Dire Dawa Administration Education Bureau
SIMS connects the Education Bureau and its schools: registration, timetables, attendance, marks out of 100, report cards, certificates and the Grade 12 online model exam — in English, Amharic, Afaan Oromoo and Somali.
Every module works on the same student record, so information is entered once and used everywhere — by the school and by the Bureau.
One record per student for life, with a unique UID, guardian, health and special-needs details. Duplicates are caught at registration.
Create sections, balance boys and girls automatically, assign teachers and build clash-free weekly timetables.
Daily or per-period registers in seconds, monthly PDF registers, and SMS notices to guardians of absent students.
Continuous assessment and final exam add up to 100. Teachers enter marks online or with Excel; totals and ranks update instantly.
Printable report cards and transcripts, conduct, and year-end promotion decisions approved by the director.
ID cards, transfer, completion and graduation certificates with serial numbers and a QR code anyone can verify.
Clearance, Bureau approval and transfer certificates. The student keeps the same UID and full history.
Enrolment, averages and pass rates from the whole city down to a single class, with at-risk students highlighted.
Black list records for warnings and penalties, and awards for achievements, for students and teachers.
Continuous assessment (quizzes, tests, assignments) and the final exam add up to 100. There are no letter grades: a student passes when the total reaches the pass mark set within the Bureau’s policy.
The Bureau prepares the papers centrally; schools admit their students and print admission slips; candidates sit timed papers on a computer, and results are calculated instantly.
Each person sees only what their role needs. School staff only ever see their own school.
Every certificate, transcript and report card issued by SIMS carries a QR code. Scan it with any phone camera: the verification page shows whether it is valid, the serial number, the school and the student’s name. No sign-in needed.
Encrypted passwords, sign-in limits, optional two-factor authentication and automatic sign-out after inactivity.
The audit log keeps who changed what and when, with before-and-after values.
Strict separation between schools; the Bureau sees the whole city.
The system runs on the Bureau’s existing student database — nothing was lost in the move.
